Yes, you can print your Innerholm journal as a book. Pick one journal and a stretch of days, and Innerholm typesets it into an A5 PDF: 148 by 210 mm, a chapter for each month, dates set in Fraunces, the writing in Instrument Sans at 10.5 on 14, your photographs printed in place, a title page at the front and a colophon at the back. The margins carry a 25 mm gutter, which is the binding allowance a print shop needs. You download the file and take it wherever you like: a home printer, a local print shop, or a print-on-demand service. Innerholm does not print or post anything itself, and there is no partner behind a button here.
What the book is
Seven things, and all of them are already there when the file arrives.
- A5, 148 by 210 mm.The size of a real book, not a printed webpage.
- A chapter for each month.Every month starts on a fresh leaf with its own title, so a year has a spine of its own rather than running on as one long document.
- Dates set as headings.Fraunces italic, in the oxblood ink the app uses, so the eye finds a day without hunting.
- Your writing, set properly.Instrument Sans at 10.5 on 14, in a measure that reads at book size. Headings, lists, quotes and links come across as themselves.
- Photographs on the page.The pictures inside your entries are printed where they sit, at print resolution. A pregnancy journal without the scans is a poor keepsake.
- A title page and a running head.The journal's name and the dates at the front, the journal on one side and the date on the other along the top of every page.
- A colophon.One quiet line at the back that reads Printed from innerholm.com. Nothing else, no logo, no advertisement.

- Open the export dialog from the foot of the entry list, and choose Keepsake PDF.
- Choose a journal and a stretch of days. It opens on the whole journal, from the first entry to today. Narrow it if you want one year, one season, or one trip.
- Create the book. The file downloads. There is no queue and no email; it is made while you wait.

Where to have it printed
Three routes, in rising order of how much like a book it comes out.
- A home printer A5 pages print two to a sheet of A4. Good for one month, or for reading a year in the garden.
- A local print shop Hand over the PDF and ask for A5, double-sided, with a 25 mm gutter allowed for binding. Perfect binding for a thick year, saddle stitch for a thin one. A shop will ask about paper weight; 100 to 120 gsm holds photographs without showing through.
- A print-on-demand service Any of them will take an A5 PDF interior. You upload the file and design a cover in their tool. We name none of them, because we have no arrangement with any of them and would rather not point you at a price we do not control.

What one book holds
The book is made while you wait, so it is bounded, and each bound is said in words rather than met as a spinner that never stops.
- Up to 500 entries in one book Past that, make it in parts: a year at a time is a fine way to own a decade.
- Up to five years between the two dates The range opens on your whole journal and is trimmed to five years if it is longer.
- Up to 50 photographs, and 25 MB of them Beyond that the rest of the pictures are named in place rather than printed.
- Encrypted and on-device journals cannot be typeset Innerholm says so rather than making a beautiful book of nothing. Only your device can read them, so they export as Markdown from inside the unlocked journal.

How big can one book be?
Up to 500 entries and up to five years in one book, with up to 50 photographs and 25 MB of them. A longer archive becomes several books, which is usually what you wanted anyway: a volume for each year is easier to hold and easier to shelve.
What do I ask a print shop for?
An A5 interior, double-sided, printed from the single PDF. Tell them the file already carries a 25 mm gutter on the inside edge, so they do not need to add one. Perfect binding suits a thick year, saddle stitch a thin one, and 100 to 120 gsm paper holds photographs without showing through.
Can I print an encrypted or an on-device journal?
Not as a typeset book, no. Those journals are readable only on your device, which is the whole point of them, and the book is set on the server. Export the journal as Markdown from inside it once it is unlocked, and you have every word in a file you can set yourself.
Is exporting my journal a paid feature?
No. Markdown and a Day One compatible archive, with the pictures, are free on every account and always will be. The published format is at /export-format. The typeset book is craft rather than portability, which is why it sits with Innerholm+ and the export does not.
